Courses that draw every example on a real chart in your workspace. Learn swing points, support and resistance, trendlines, chart patterns and fair value gaps, answer quizzes on actual price history, then practice on graded historical setups. Lessons and quizzes are free.
Learn is a panel inside the ChartingLens chart app. Instead of showing pictures, each lesson step loads a real historical chart into one of your chart panes and draws the example on it: the swing points, the zone, the trendline, the entry, the stop and the target. The lesson text quotes the dates and prices on that chart, so what you read and what you see always match.
The examples are real daily and hourly charts of large US stocks and the SPY and QQQ ETFs. Courses sit in two tracks: Fundamentals ("Start here: how to read a chart before you trade one.") and Strategies ("Setups with a defined entry, stop and target.").
Every lesson and quiz works on the Free plan. Graded practice on historical examples is part of Premium and Pro.
In the right sidebar, click the book icon captioned Learn. The panel opens on Courses, with a Continue where you left off card once you have started.
Each card shows the level, how many lessons and quizzes it has, roughly how long it takes, and how many lessons you have completed.
Read each step in the panel while its example is drawn on the chart. Use Prev and Next, or click a step dot to jump back.
Quiz steps hide what happened next. Pick a lettered answer to reveal the outcome and the reasoning behind each choice.
Close the panel and a small chip stays on the chart with previous step, next step, Open and End lesson.
The last step offers the next lesson, Practice on examples and Back to course. Progress is saved to your account.
Fundamentals track, Beginner, 6 lessons, about 25 minutes. Find the swing points, draw the levels and lines the market respects, and trade the test with a defined stop and target.
Fundamentals track, Beginner, 6 lessons, about 30 minutes. Double tops and bottoms, triangles, flags and pennants: outline them, wait for the breakout close, and trade the measured move.
Strategies track, Beginner, 5 lessons, about 20 minutes. Spot the three-candle imbalance, trade the retest with a defined stop and target, and know what it means when a gap flips. The last lesson ends with an Add FVG Pro to my charts button, so you can put the Fair Value Gap (FVG) Pro indicator on your own charts.
Prefer to read first? Our long-form guides cover the same ground: support and resistance levels, break of structure and change of character (built on swing points), stock chart patterns, double tops and bottoms and fair value gaps.
Both Fundamentals courses end with a quiz lesson: seven questions on levels and eight on patterns, each on a real chart that is cut off at a set date until you answer. The questions ask about what is in front of you: how many swing lows sit in a highlighted stretch, whether a highlighted bar is an entry, which of two levels is stronger, where the stop belongs, which pattern has formed, or where the measured-move target is.
Next stays locked until you answer. Once you pick, the chart reveals what happened next and marks the answer. A wrong pick shows "Not quite. The answer is B." (or whichever letter is right) with an explanation of why your choice was wrong and why the right one is right. The lesson ends with your score, such as "Quiz complete: 6 of 7 correct".
Each course has a Practice on examples list of real historical setups that replay bar by bar on the Bar Replay engine. Examples show only the symbol and timeframe (for example AAPL · Daily) with an Easy, Medium or Hard tag, so the title never gives the answer away, plus your best score and number of attempts.
You are graded on the decision, not the pixels. Each attempt is scored out of 100:
The result shows your score, a letter grade (A from 90, B from 75, C from 60, D from 45, F below that), a line for each part, and up to three Next time tips ranked by the points you lost. The model answer is drawn on the chart, with Hide answer and Hide my drawings toggles to compare. Then pick Try again, Next example or Back to course.
A lesson borrows one chart pane, labelled with the example's symbol and Lesson or Practice. Your own chart is set aside, not changed. When you leave (Back to course, End lesson, or changing the symbol, timeframe or layout), the pane gets back your symbol, timeframe, chart type, drawings and visible range. Indicators on the pane stay on and recalculate over the lesson data. Nothing you draw inside a lesson or practice is saved to your account, so practice marks never land on your real charts.
A Take notes button sits on the course list, every course and lesson, and the practice screen. It opens your Notes journal next to the Learn panel so you can write rules down as you learn them; on a window narrower than 1,200 pixels, Notes opens on its own. Notes follow your plan's caps: 3 notes on Free, 25 on Premium and unlimited on Pro.
Take Fundamentals in order: swing points come before levels, and levels come before patterns.
Jump straight to a quiz lesson. When a question catches you out, the explanation points back to the rule.
The Fair Value Gaps course separates mitigation, fill and inversion, and filters gaps by displacement, size against ATR and context.
Practice grades the entry and the stop, not just the result: the outcome is only 15 of the 100 points.

No. A lesson borrows one chart pane and gives back your symbol, timeframe, chart type, drawings and view when you leave. Nothing drawn during a lesson or practice is saved to your account.
Each attempt is scored out of 100: 30 points for marking the setup, 25 for the trade direction, 15 for the entry, 15 for the stop and 15 for the outcome. You get a letter grade, up to three tips, and the model answer drawn on the chart.
No. Learn is training, not a qualification, so there are no certificates. Your progress shows as completed lessons, quiz scores and your best score on each practice example.
