Price Alerts

Never miss a trading opportunity. Set alerts on exact prices, percentage moves, indicator conditions, trendline crosses, and full trading strategies — then let ChartingLens watch the market for you 24/7 and notify you the moment your conditions are met.

Alert Types Overview

ChartingLens offers multiple alert types designed to cover every scenario a trader encounters. Whether you want a simple notification when a stock hits a price level or a complex multi-condition alert that combines indicators across different timeframes, the alert system has you covered.

1

Price Target Alerts

Set an exact price level. The alert fires the moment the stock's price reaches or crosses your target, whether it is moving up or down.

2

Percentage Change Alerts

Get notified when a stock moves a specified percentage from its current price. Useful for catching breakouts or monitoring volatility.

3

Indicator-Based Alerts

Trigger alerts on RSI, MACD, Smart MACD, Stochastic, and ADX — crossover signals or exact numeric levels you choose.

4

Trendline Alerts

Draw a trendline on the chart and get alerted when price crosses it or when a candle closes beyond it. Premium feature.

5

Multi-Condition Alerts

Combine several conditions into one alert that fires only when all of them are true at the same time — even across two timeframes.

6

Strategy Alerts

Turn any backtest into a live recurring alert. Whenever your strategy generates a new signal, you get notified.

7

Custom Indicator Signal Alerts

Arm the bell icon on any custom AI indicator that draws buy/sell markers and get notified the moment a new signal prints on a closed bar.

Price Target Alerts

The most straightforward alert type. You set an exact price, and ChartingLens monitors the stock in real time. The moment the bid or ask price reaches your target level, the alert fires.

Price target alerts work in both directions. You can set an alert above the current price to catch a breakout, or below the current price to catch a pullback to a support level. Many traders use price target alerts to:

Quick-Add Alerts, Three Ways

The fastest way to create a price alert is directly on the chart. Right-click anywhere on the chart to create an alert at that exact price, or click the "+" button on the price axis. Indicator panes (RSI, MACD, Stochastic, ADX) have their own "+" button too — click it to drop an alert at that exact indicator value, with an editable value box so you can fine-tune the level before setting it. No dialogs to dig through — one click and you are done.

Percentage Change Alerts

Sometimes you do not have a specific price in mind — you just want to know when a stock makes a significant move. Percentage change alerts let you set a threshold like "alert me if AAPL moves 5% up or down from its current price."

This alert type is especially useful for monitoring positions during earnings season, when stocks can make large overnight moves. You can also use percentage alerts on your watchlist stocks to catch sudden momentum shifts that might signal a trading opportunity.

When you create a percentage alert, you choose the direction (up, down, or both) and the percentage threshold. The alert calculates the target price automatically based on the stock's current price at the time of creation and fires when that level is reached.

Indicator-Based Alerts

Indicator alerts go beyond simple price monitoring. They allow you to set conditions based on the technical indicators you use in your analysis — and get notified when those conditions are met without having to watch the chart constantly.

RSI Alerts

Set alerts when RSI crosses above or below a specific threshold. Common uses include alerting when RSI drops below 30 (oversold — potential buying opportunity) or rises above 70 (overbought — potential reversal or exit signal). You can set the RSI period to match your preferred settings.

MACD Cross Alerts

Get notified when the MACD line crosses above or below the signal line. A bullish MACD cross is one of the most widely used momentum signals, and catching it in real time means you can enter a trade at the start of a new move rather than chasing it after the fact.

Stochastic Cross Alerts

Alert on Stochastic %K/%D crossovers, particularly in oversold (below 20) or overbought (above 80) territory. Stochastic crosses in extreme zones tend to produce higher-quality signals, and these alerts let you capture them without constant chart monitoring.

Smart MACD Alerts

Smart MACD alerts work like standard MACD alerts but run on the Smart MACD indicator's enhanced signal logic, giving you cleaner crossover notifications with less noise from choppy price action.

ADX Alerts

Get notified when trend strength changes — for example, when ADX crosses above 25 (a trend is establishing) or drops below 20 (the trend is fading). ADX alerts tell you when a stock has transitioned from ranging to trending without watching the pane all day.

Crossover Alerts and Numeric Level Alerts

Every indicator alert comes in two flavors. Crossover alerts fire on signal events — MACD crossing its signal line, Stochastic %K crossing %D. Numeric level alerts let you pick the exact value: alert me when RSI hits 28.5, when Smart MACD reaches 0.75, or when ADX crosses 32. You choose the number, and the alert fires the moment the indicator reaches it.

Multi-Condition Alerts

Single-condition alerts are useful, but real setups usually require confluence. Multi-condition alerts let you combine several conditions into one alert that fires only when all of them are true simultaneously. Stack a price level on top of an indicator condition, or combine two indicators — if any one condition is false, the alert stays quiet. You only hear about it when the full setup is on.

Dual-Timeframe Conditions

Conditions in a multi-condition alert can live on different timeframes. For example, you can create an alert that fires only when RSI is below 30 on the 1-hour chart AND MACD has a bullish cross on the 4-hour chart. This multi-timeframe confluence approach dramatically reduces false signals and helps you focus on higher-probability setups.

Trendline Alerts

Trendline alerts are a Premium feature that brings your chart annotations to life. After drawing a trendline on the chart — whether it is a support line, resistance line, channel boundary, or any other linear level — you can attach an alert to it.

You have two trigger options for trendline alerts:

Because trendlines are diagonal (they move over time), trendline alerts automatically adjust their trigger level with each new bar. This makes them far more powerful than static price alerts for tracking ascending support lines, descending resistance, and channel boundaries.

Strategy Alerts

Strategy alerts close the loop between backtesting and live trading. Any strategy you backtest on ChartingLens can be turned into a live recurring alert — the platform keeps evaluating your strategy's conditions against incoming market data and notifies you every time a new signal fires.

This means a strategy you validated on historical data does not just sit in a report. Backtest it, verify the results, then flip it into an alert and let it hunt for the next signal while you get on with your day.

Custom Indicator Signal Alerts

Any custom AI-built indicator that draws buy/sell markers on your chart can alert you when it prints a new one. Look for the bell icon in the indicator's chart legend: click it, choose buy signals, sell signals, or both, and pick your channels — on-screen notification, sound, or email (Premium).

Signal alerts are evaluated live while ChartingLens is open with the indicator on your chart — keep the tab running and your custom indicator becomes its own watchdog.

One Modal, Total Control

Every alert type is created and edited through a single unified alert modal, so you never have to learn a different interface for each alert. And every alert gives you fine-grained control over how and when it fires:

Visual Alert Lines on Chart

Every active alert is displayed directly on the chart as a dashed horizontal line at the alert level. This gives you immediate visual context — you can see exactly where your alerts are relative to the current price, support and resistance levels, and your other technical analysis.

Alert lines are color-coded by type, making it easy to distinguish between different alert conditions at a glance. You can click any alert line to edit or delete it without opening a separate alert management panel — or simply drag the line to a new level to update the alert's target price instantly. When an alert fires, its line flashes briefly and then changes appearance to indicate it has been triggered.

Notifications That Reach You Anywhere

Alert checking runs server-side every 5 minutes, 24/7 — your alerts are monitored even when your browser is closed and your computer is off. You do not need to keep ChartingLens open for your alerts to work.

When an alert fires while you are in the platform, you get an in-app notification with a sound so it never slips past you. Premium and Pro users also receive email notifications: Premium accounts can enable email delivery on up to 10 alerts, while Pro accounts get email notifications on unlimited alerts. Whether you are away from your desk, in a meeting, or focused on other work, the alert system will reach you.

Each email notification includes the stock symbol, the alert condition that was met, the current price, the time the alert triggered, and a direct link to open the stock's chart in ChartingLens so you can take action immediately.
